Biografía: Joaquim Castro was born in Catarroja, València, Spain.
His plastic career began in the late 1970s and early 1980s, while he completed his undergraduate studies in theoretical physics. (He is a doctor in physical, and professor of astronomy and mathematics). At the beginning of the 80s, he participated in exhibitions and photography and painting contests, at the Valencian community, in Gandía, Pego, Spring and Autumn Hall of Valencia and other collective exhibitions. In 1984, for example, he was the first finalist of the First Biennial of Castellón, his work AIII, (showing his influences of abstract expressionism in the middle of the century, with authors such as Franz Kline, Robert Motherwell, Wilhem De Koonig, Jackson Pollock's work and his relationship with fractal geometry, led him to perform computer experiments with recurring mathematical algorithms). In 1990, he made his first solo exhibition in Alzira, titled PresteJuan, about an imaginary Christian Country behind the Muslim world, which usually appeared in medieval and renaissance literature. This same theme has been recurrent in his work over the years, which in later years has been oscillating occasionally in techniques and languages, concurrent with abstract art, in which he has been abandoning influences, to obtain a more personal own language.
