Jordi Díez Fernández was born in Valladolid on 5th of March, 1966. He studied Fine Arts in Universidad Complutense de Madrid graduating Suma Cum Laude in Sculpture.
In 1989, he opens his first atelier in Fresnedillas de la Oliva (Madrid). There -isolated for three years- he set up the sculptural concept of his work. At present, he lives and works in Centelles (Barcelona). Figurative art, especially the human form, is in the centre of Jordi Díez’s work. During the several stages of his work, the usage and handling of diverse materials is highlighted: Stone, Iron, Wood and Terracotta. These materials are the antechamber to a work made exclusively on steel, a metal which provides a distinctive brightness -beyond others-, converting his creations in a new art deeply admired by figurative art experts. For Díez, the beauty of the different materials represents a discourse in itself that updates the expression. His work can be found all over the world in museums, temples, public areas and private collections. He is considered by many experts to be one of the Spanish sculptors with highest worldwide projection. Currently, he is involved in sculptural projects in San Francisco, Barcelona, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, Thailand and recently in Taiwan |
