Artist Works
Biography: Marisa Rivera Navarro is a self-taught artist who grew up in a creative environment, with the company of her father Manuel Rivera, a famous Spanish painter.
He obtained the Psychology Degree from the Complutense University of Madrid and then continued a career as an independent art curator. She has been involved in the art world since her childhood and continues to work in it.

“My training is self-taught. In my work, the themes arise spontaneously, without a previous intention, most of the time. On many occasions, from a figure or an initial line, the theme emerges on its own almost automatically, disregarding a previous structure. Imagination is an essential component. The same goes for color. Everything fills it, wraps it, and makes it vibrate. The line, the ranges, the intensity, the way of applying it is coming out and it is done on the white of the paper as the drawing is configured. Color and ideas live and travel together. Creatures and forms star fantastic stories and flow like free spirits, dance, float, fly, form sets or leave the painted surface, without sequence margins or space limits. Symbols, archetypes, arcana, personal and cultural references, intersect behind the curtain of an apparent play of lights and dreams. As a mixed technique, I use a variety of media such as technical markers, pencils, acrylics, gouaches, fingers, trimmed papers, rope and varnish, on small format papers. I would like the energy I put on what I paint to pass to those who look at it. That they could feel it, smell it, hear it, perceive it. Or at least they felt a light touch. I just try to say things with color and form, which I could not say otherwise. ”
