I don't always paint what I envision when I buy a canvas. Nor can I carry the order that I initially set in terms of technique and style. I admit that if the cadres did not exercise that power, if they did not obsess me and I felt that I am living in a fight that I must win, I would not enjoy them so much. Seeing the final fruit of that chaos is the greatest peace I can find.
This work is based on a photograph by Nicolas Senegas. Years ago I kept a photograph of him that has been painted many times and I would have loved to make my own version, but I entered his website after contacting him and that virtual walk through his uncensored gallery changed all my schemes.
