Ted Shaw was born in Pasadena, Texas. His current body of work represents both a technical distillation of a lifelong art career and, what some resist, flowing out of otherworldly influences. His paintings are a representation of energy. It is a collaborative dance of elementary, universal and personal creative forces.
His art is based on a collaboration of energies formed in an image plan that becomes a part of the Universe, which elevates the vibrations of space around him, and the spectator. Color is the tool par excellence that he uses to represent the inexorable mixture between the universe and the ego. Invokes the pure color, meaning of our primordial mind, clear through our highest imaginative processes. When he creates his art, he offers himself as a medium through which these forces, and he, co-create a visual symphony of color whose energy improves the space around him. The color feels as intensely as our eyes perceive it and our mind decodes it. The same interaction between the observer and the observed object is the completion of the narrative, different and unique to each perspective of the mind. The painted image is incomplete without the viewer. In our post-modernist world, turning to cybernetic speed, the interactions between individuals become a fluid matrix that should not stagnate, all the images, forged to represent, are almost instantly scanned, labeled and filed in our mind. In order to reach a new perspective through the image, the image must evade the minds' file system, if only for a moment, so that the viewer connects with the source of energy. Ted Shaw was born in Pasadena, Texas. My current body of work represents both a technical distillation of a lifelong art career and a, some-what-reluctant, out-flowing of otherworldly influences. My paintings are a performance of energy. It is a collaborative dance of elementary, universal, and personal creative forces. I am a medium through which these forces express concepts and emotions. Color is the preeminent tool I use to represent the inexorable mingling between universe and ego. Color invokes pure meaning from our primordial minds clear through to our highest imaginative processes. Color is felt as intensely as our eyes perceive it and our minds decode it. The very interaction between the viewer and the object viewed is the completion of the narrative, the different and unique to each minds' perspective: the painted image is incomplete without the viewer. In our post-postmodernist world, spinning at cyber-speed, interactions between individuals become a fluid matrix that must not be stagnated by convention, all images, which are contrived to represent, are almost instantly scanned, labeled, and filed in our minds. In order to reach a new perspective through image, the image must evade the minds filing system, if only for a moment, and allow for imagination to affect the object. |
