Allow me to present my latest work, "The Execrated Night (Under the 3 Suns)". This painting is the first in a series of paintings inspired by the great works of prominent artists throughout history, with the intention of merging different artistic currents into a single work.
In "The Execrated Night," you'll find a loose interpretation of Van Gogh's "The Starry Night," along with elements of science fiction literature, Australian Aboriginal cultures, African tribal art, and Zen philosophy. This work represents a mixture of impressionism, neobrutalism, and psychedelia. The octopus-like tree, rising out of the river, represents the presence of Lovecraft's cosmic being, Cthulhu. But his presence is subtle, so that each viewer can find their own interpretation of him. The eyes of the crocodile formed by the colored clouds, represent the suns, and also a zen concept of duality, the moon, and the suns reflecting each other. The vibrant colors in the work represent the contrasts between nature and technology, farm fields and mass graves instead of cities, and fires that destroy the world we have created. All this, under the psychedelic effects of a series of lines and shapes that suggest mystical presences. |
