I begin my story. Almost 10 years ago I was found to have cancer. After chemo and radiotherapy and a few months of being ill and other interventions ... One day like any other I went to buy Lidl. That day there was a promotion of paintings, canvas, brushes ... without knowing why I started to fill my car with those things. But, in a moment of rationality, I said to myself, what do I do? If I have no idea to paint! I have never even been able to make a decent drawing!
The next step was to put everything back in its place. I went out into the street and met a neighbor. I told her what had happened to me, and she said to me, do you like to paint? I replied, I don't know, it has always appealed to me but I have no idea. She then said to me: I have an easel at home and some paintings, if I find them I will give them to you. I was overwhelmed, I replied ... No please, if I have no idea ... At the time I was at home with all the material. A brand-new paint case. I thought that I couldn't use everything so new, that it would surely spoil it. So, I went out again, went to Lidl and bought some canvas, brushes and acrylic paints with the basic colors. In two hours, between housework, I made my first painting. I didn't know what to paint. It was February 13, 2013, and it occurred to me thinking of my husband (born in San Sebastián) painting something from there. I took a book with old photographs, in black and white and I started to color it, making the mixtures myself. |
